Thinning hair and psroasis...please help.?

A very good friend of mine (female) has had psroasis (sic) for a while but now her hair is starting to thin as well. This is really bringing her down and it is awful to see her in such a way because she is an amazing person - sometimes people make obvious comments about her scalp/hair and it is awful to see her react to their stupidity.

She is due to see a dermatologist but she is in a very long queue. She is fair skinned and has dark blond hair. She also uses a hairdryer regularly and sometimes has her hair lightened.

First of all let me say that you are a good friend for even trying to help your friend and not just making them fill even more disparaged about the situation.

My daughter has psoriasis as well, fortunately for her it hasnt affected her scalp. When she sees the doctor he will most likely prescribe her something and that may help. I would suggest that she stop using the hair dryer and stop the hair coloring for awhile. Stress also can be causing this, be a good friend to her and support her through this, sounds like you already are. %26lt;3

i suffer from the same... i finally have a dermatologist appointment set for aug 1. im afraid my hair will be gone by then (i hope not) however i am going today to buy a product i researched online and the reviews have been very positive so maybe this is the right stuff for her aswell...its NIOXIN just google or yahoo seach and you can find alot of info on it. good luck!!

I know using a hair dryer make my scalp condition get a lot worse. Suggest to her to let her hair air dry.I've also discovered that if I wash with as cool as water as I can the scalp condition is rarely noticeable.

Also when the hair is wet and being pulled by the comb and brush this is when the hair is the weakest and it breaks the most and weakening the hair more too. So she should decrease combing and brushing as much as she can until after the hair is dry.
