Question for hair professionals....?

I have naturally dark blond hair which I dyed permanent black, with bleached strips which I dyed red - it won't wash out, they stay pink even when the red fades.

I would like to go back to my natural colour. Could someone please explain the process of stripping the hair and dying it back to something close to its normal colour, I would like to know exactly how this is done, and also, how much approx will it cost to get a professional hairdresser to do this?

My hair is quite short, about 6 inches max length.

Many thanks!

First off, its great that you are going to a hairdresser for this process, it can be extremely damaging if you attempt it on your own. Basically, stripping the hair and bleaching the hair are the same, but also different. Both processes are meant to remove color from the hair, but there is one key difference: stripping removes 10% - 75% of ARTIFICIAL hair color, where as bleaching can remove up to 95% or even 100% of ALL color, artificial AND natural. Stripping does not affect the natural color, but it removes any base you may have (blonde usually has a gold / yellow / red base to it naturally). For black hair, your hairdresser may probably want to bleach rather than strip since it can remove more color. Remember: black is the exception to every hair color rule. It is the hardest to remove, and can cause unpredictable staining (this means that when black hair is lightened, some patches can unexplainably stay a bit darker; think of stripes or leopard spots). Always remember that sometimes, to protect the integrity of your hair and keep it healthy, you may need to do this in steps; this means you will probably spend a couple of months with a hair color that is NOT your natural hair color, and it may not be a color you even want or like, but its necessary to do it in steps so your hair is not fried and thus permanently ruined. This can only be determined by your hairdresser. Be cautious of a hairdresser who is quick to do it all in one process, he / she may not have the patience for a color correction of this complexity. Bottom line: it is possible to get your hair back to your natural color, and will probably need to be bleached then dyed rather than stripped. Also, don閳ユ獩 forget to condition, condition, condition! Good luck, hope this helps閳?br>Question for hair professionals....?

Stipping the hair means bleaching the color out of it, and then you can have it dyed the color you want. Very hard on the hair. Make sure you have a good conditioner, and use it everyday. I don't know what the cost is to bleach and dye hair.

oh.. Thats a toughie..

Now my first suggestion is to go to a professional.. Please..

The process is difficult only because you have dyed your hair black. Black is tough to get out of hair.

What has to be done for you to go back to your hatural would be to uncolor the black parks of your hair, the ends suck up a lot of black typically so you leave it on the ends longer that the root section.. The pink should be uncolored as well, but it shouldn't take long to get that out, like your root section. After the hairdresser feels that as much color has come out, with the least amount of damage they fill the stripped hair with a toner/ low volume demi/semi permanent color to even out the tones, and get you as close as possible to your desired hair color.

Both the uncoloring and the toning are crucial. And should be left in the hands of a professional. If done at home major damage could be caused. Over processing can very easily happen. Which would make your hair feel mushy when wet but extremely dry and brittle when dry. It can also cause it to fall out when brushed, just breaking off mid shaft.

It's good that your hair is short because any damage will be cut off over a short amount of time, compared to those who have and want to keep longer hair.

Good Luck!

Your right to go to a salon to get this done , as it a long process just be willing to stay there for a while , because the colour you have but on your hair will have to be bleached , this can be very bad for your hair aswell and it also depends on how long the colour has been on your hair the longer its been on the harder it is to get out , black and red are the hardest colours to get out of the hair , ive stripped one girls hair and it took over 6 hours , sorry to say but you will never be able to colour it back to your natural colour (there is no hair dye that can give you your natural colour any hairdresser should no that) that only way you will get your natural colour is if you grow the colour out of your hair , and depending on how fast your hair grows this could take a long time to , as for the price it also depends were you live and what salon you go to, it could be anything from 鎷?00 or more.

Get a colour bath put through your hair. this is basically a watered down blond colour but it is mixed with a conditioner and wont damage your hair. as for prices it will vary from salon to salon.
