Hi its a funny thing with black hair dye and the roots showing, even if its a dark brown most of the black is sill in your hair. Most likely if you tried to say bleach or prelighten it out you will get an orangey result, or end up with lighter roots than the rest of the hair and it could be patchy.

I dyed the underneath of my hair black once and it was a night mare to get out, I was putting light browns on and they just wouldnt cover the black. So I decided to prelighten it out as its not as bad as bleacing it from staight off as I have done in the past and the hair just gets wrecked. But when I tried to put a dye on the deep orange colour after the black was prelightend it just went a dark auburn colour and looked worse still.

As you roots are though and they are blonde no matter what colour unless you go black wil make you roots a total lighter colour than all the rest.

If you went to the hair dressers they would probably strip out the colour and redye it but then you dont knoe if they will do it properly and how much more it will cost you if they mess it up.

If I was you I would just let your roots come through and not put any dye on and let it grow out keep getting cuts so it doesnt seem to take that long to grow it out as the hair grows faster. Then once all your natural hair is out you can go whatever colour you would like.

im having the same problem. i dyed mine black and its faded to dark brown, but its only been about 3 weeks. i went to a salon cause i wanted to get it lightened to light brown but they couldnt do it. they said to let the color fade out more and come back in a month and they could do it then. if its been several months for you i would say its ok, but you might want to ask a professional just in case, because everyones hair is different.

the dark part will stay dark and your roots will take the colour youre putting on. Unfortunately to get a unison colour, the existing one will have to be lifted(bleached up) and then the colour deposited on it. You cant just dye lighter even if you use a high lift colour, it will only lift a shade or so.

I don't recomend you to dye your hair a lighter color because the color will only stick to your roots. I had to wait about a year and a half to re-dye my black hair to a lighter color and it was partly because my hair grows extremely fast. If you wish to go lighter you should start off with highlights.

rinse your hair in tea. make it very strong and run it through your hair after shampoo, it may take a while but it will work an isn't harmful to your hair.

Lightening hair after going dark is one of the hardest things to do on your own. An inexpensive salon is a much better choice than doing it at home.

Short of waiting months/years for the color to simply grow out, you're going to need professional help.

A professional stylist can strip the color, and then bleach what's left to a blonde shade close to your natural color, and then put on a toner. Bleaching is, obviously, damaging to your hair, but if you only did it that once, and got regular touch ups of toner/color at your natural shade, and buy some good hair conditioning products you will make it out OK.

I've bleached my hair before (professionally) and lived to tell the tale. It just requires more careful attention.

If you choose to seek a professional, please call around first and make sure you're given a "color expert", not just anybody with a cosmetologist's license. If you are in Southern California, I know a color genius (IMO), if you want to email me I'll give you her shop.

I hate to say this, but at the rate you are going, you won't have any hair left to dye! If the color doesn't look too bad, give your hair a break and nurse it back into shape with some restoring conditioner. Then, go to a salon and tell them all your hair has been through to see if they recommend any more processing. If you are certain they have your best interest in mind (not $$$) go ahead and get it fixed. In the future, you can try semi-permanent treatments. Some will be out of your hair in a week. As a blonde, you can really have fun trying on a wide spectrum of colors because you dont' have to lighten first to get them!

I like you had soft brown hair and decided to dye it black (I used one of those box containers) needless to say I had to go to a professional salon where they literary had to fry my hair to remove the black color (the dye in the box container is oil based and very difficult to remove, especially Black!)...In the months that followed I almost tried every conditioner on the market with every repair kit available...

I can say that I too survived and now my hair is once again as healthy as it ever was..I also learned my lesson and only purchase salon based products from like a Sally Beauty Supply Store that are truly good for your hair...you can also purchase dyes from a health food store if you want to go the truly A La Natural route..

dyeing over blonde with a brown shouldnt damage the hair as it is deposit only and does not require the replacement or stripping of the blonde. The brown will cover the blonde and shouldnt go green!! The likeliness is that you may need to re colour it soon after as the porosity of blonde hair doesnt tend to hold onto colour. A cold rinse after colouring and washing can help to close cuticle a bit to help stop this. The blonde has replaced your own hair pigment(colour) by stripping your own out, most brown dyes will not strip your hair but will just add to the pigment to change it.

it is easier to dye your hair one solid color yourself, especially a darker color over a lighter color. dye your hair as close to your original color as you can get it. that way when your roots begin to show it will just blend with the dye. my hair was a dark brown and i dyed the top layer honey blond and it began to break off bad. so dyed it a darker color and do hot oil treatments regularly.

I think you would need to get a colour strip or something like that which washes off any colour left on your hair so you can dye it again without the two dyes reacting to each other and you ending up ginger or something!!! I am sure you can get this from a drugstore or something.Why dont you call a hairdressers and ask them what can be done I am sure they wouldnt mind helping out or go to your local college where they do it very cheaply with supervised beauty students.

Choose a good quality hair dye (say L'Oreal) in a colour close to your natural brown. Follow the instructions carefully.

I think it will be OK - because using the dark dye will only be once, you will then be able to let your own colour grow back. The colour won't be QUITE the same, because your bleached hair will be very dry, but I think that is better than just growing it out, which EVERYONE notices.

As soon as you can, go to the hairdresser for a good cut - shouldn't cost too much, and will make all the difference.

I did this myself a few years back. It can feel very liberating being a brunette again and it saves on blonde hair dye and when your own hair has grown a bit, you will have healthier hair!!

I would also suggest finding a school they are cheaper and its kinda difficult to do it yourself depending on how light you are and what you used to go blonde, you have to replace the missing pigment from your hair and good luck with doing that yourself,especially if your hair is breaking, do lots of deep conditioners first like 2xs a week for 3 weeks and get the ends trimmed regularly. good luck

Just get the color that you want in a semi permanent dye kit,This will insure coverage without the long term damage, they have them at Sally's for cheap. No more than $15 Once you have done the color, condition it very very well and you should be fine. Your hair has been through a serious process, the dark color will help to mask that a little. The deep conditioning will do the rest.

And whatever you do .... DO NOT go to a beauty school, you will just be their test dummy. (Been there, Done that! and wont go back again)

If you add brown to blond it will go khaki. As a hairdresser I have seen this many a time. Its honestly worth waiting and having it done properly. They will repigment it (putting the dark pigment back in) and this will give you a nice even long lasting tone. Honestly do not colour it yourself as you will only cause more damage and then more cost.

if your hairs breaking, you will need to get it back into good condition before you apply more colour to it. If you don't you risk losing even more hair.

I can recommend REDKEN extreme shampoo and conditioner, these are protein rich this will strengthen your hair from the inside out. its not just a cosmetic product. after 2 to 3 months you will notice great improvement in your hairs strengthen.

Once your hairs healthy again, apply a semi colour avoid any ash tones as this may turn the hair green. also choose one shade darker than your target shade. as you are applying over blonde it will develop slightly lighter than stated on the packaging of the colour.

She will NOT use normal hair dye because of the potential danger(I know some really great children lived through it, but better safe then sorry, right?). The only safe one she's tried is henna and it was really a pain to apply, and it looks kinda strange. Not doing anything will look bad because she has dyed blond hair and dark roots. I do recommend henna but she has blond hair, so then her hair would be too orange wouldn't it? What kind of henna are you using? It is easier to apply on damp hair and she can visit www.longhaircommunity.com for tons of natural alternatives especially in the henna thread and read articles on using herbs naturally for your hair.

The thing is if she wants to go natural she has to let her natural hair color come back out or use henna along with indigo to quickly make her hair brown again. What is her hair color really? She wil need mostly indigo and just a small percentage of henna. This is the best natural option.

There is NO risk of hair dye soaking in through your scalp and getting into your blood stream and to the baby and causing miscarriage or defects. This is an old wives' tale that has been disproved. The ONLY issue with hair dye and early pregnancy is the smell..the strong smell can make many pregnant women nauseous or faint, but it won't poison the baby or anything like that. Seriously. If she wants to dye her hair, she should do it.

Uh... short body? As in torso? Are your legs really long making it awkward? Short body sounds... strange to me.

Also, "blond" is for males and "blonde" with that "e" is for femmes. Get out the bleach, break out the colored contacts and invest in a corset to elongate the torso... then you'll sound but more importantly, LOOK haute.

IF you go for "highlights" do not invest in those drastic STREAKS that they call HIGHLIGHTS... Get honey colored to compliment, not those ridiculous zebra stripes that everyone is getting, they do not look natural, they do not compliment and they look unfinished.

Well, after you go to another salon, you can legally sue the previous salon. Under legal rights, you they have to provide you with what you paid for. You pay for blonde, they dye you orange... they should fix it. They should have known what dye to use in the first place.

Of course, if you don't want to go through all that... try contacting that chain's district manager and informing them of the actions of that specific store's employees. I don't know what they'll do to fix it - it might be as little as scolding the employee or as much as giving you a full refund - but they'll have to do -something-.

Salons don't always have the money to turn away their customers like many bigger businesses do. They'll be grovelling to make sure you're coming back.

Well you could try getting your hairdresser to elaborate on the bangs, make them a little bigger. Side swept bangs/side fringes look hot and quite grown up. If you're allowed you could put in brown highlights, they look great too. You could also try straightening your hair.

I would also have any hair colouring done at a salon, Not every colour you buy on a box with be the end result of the colour treatment you give. I would advise first that you try on a wig in the shade of hair colour you want. It will give you that bona fide look of blonde without ruining your hair. I think layers would be pretty. Scissored around the face. Bangs swept to the side. I'm not a big fan of cutting long hair. Once it's cut you can't glue it back on, and it takes a long time to get back. Try some highlights for an extra kick.

Should I keep dyeing my hair, or just suck it up and let it grow out?

I was born with blond hair that eventually turned a little darker, you know. I've been dyeing my hair basically since i was around 8 or 9 (my sister tricked me into it..), but it's mostly been some shade of blond with darker roots, and I'm so sick of it! I tried dyeing it a very light brown a few times with different brands and it looks great but it always washes out into some nasty color with the old blond creeping back...! Does anyone have any tips?? Should I just man up and stop messing with it and wait for the natural color to come back? Or maybe theres a way to go darker faster?? Lemme know! Thanks:)

Never heard of hair turning green from dying it, only from prolonged exposure to chlorine. If your blonde hair comes in contact with chlorine just be sure to rinse it thoroughly. IT should be okay.

its not that you "dye" it blonde, it gets bleached. i dont think the sun will make it turn green but if your concerned about the water turning it green, then before you hit the pool/beach whatever, put conditioner in your hair. let it soak in before you jump into the water. also , they have UV sprays for your hair. try Matrix Biolage sunsorials protective hair oil. i dont think its a bad idea, just be careful with it.

Why would it turn green? Unless you mean from being in the water? The sun willy probably lighten it but it wont turn it a bad color. Garnier is cheap shampoo. All their products are cheap. (Sorry, it's true!) Time to invest in something else that is better and very gentle.

Make sure you use a good conditioner. If you aren't your hair can brake off and it will look like you are losing more than you are.

Well there are many things you can do.

First, you NEED to go to the doctor. So vitiamins may help. You might be low on some. I think its b12?(Ask your doctor) Also are you on any type of medicine? You could also use a thickining shampoo.

First off, calm down. Stress can be a big cause of things like breakouts and..HAIR LOSS. So whatever is bothering you, try to take a breath and relax. Do something to de-stress. Give yourself time to work out so you can be healthy, time to do something YOU want to do, time for yourself. Second, don't use Garnier. I tried that stuff and it made my hair stiff, like straw. I don't like that stuff. Pretty much all shampoos are the same, I like Dove a lot. Pantene makes my hair a little oily, but I like Herbal Essense, Neutrogena... Also, try to eat one egg (or two egg whites) evey day. Eggs are full of protien and vitamins B and E, which is what makes your hair, skin, nails and eyes healthy. It might not make your hair grow more, but it should prevent more from falling out. Strengthens you from the inside. Vitamins certianly wouldn't hurt but it takes about three months for your body to start absorbing "raw" vitamins fully. Oh, and if you have it for breakfast, it keeps you feelling more full until lunch. Added plus. Other than that, just make sure that you're eating a pretty balanced diet, and most of all try to wind down. My guess is that stress is a major factor. If you keep having this problem, you may want to see a doctor.

how about a croppy type style? it works best on fine hair. something with some texture in it. there's also a new perm on the market for fine hair. it's a texturizing perm and it only has one step to it. it's an ISO brand. and it doesn't smell too bad , either.

I have super fine hair too. I know from experience that he best defense against fine hair is a good cut. The right hairstyle for her hair texture can make all the difference in the world.

To help very think hair, stylist suggest that you get layers because it takes away some of the bulk. And if you not looking for a big change you can add low lights(in the winter) and high lights(in the summer) to give it some life and a little change. I also have very curly hair and i found a product that i absolutely love to ad shine and to get rid of all those little fuzzes. Its Paul Frieda its called secret weapon. I LOVE it.
